Proper Alignment, Increased Efficiency
Proper wheel alignment plays an important role in your vehicle’s overall performance. When properly aligned, the wheels work in unison with one another and allows your vehicle to smoothly operate on the road. When misaligned, the wheels can work against each other and cause problems like wheel vibrations, uneven tire wear, and reduced car efficiency. Signs of Wheel Misalignment
The unfortunate thing about wheel misalignment is how easily it can happen. Running over small objects, potholes, or curbs are all enough to knock your vehicle out of alignment. If this ever happens to you, the best way to identify misalignment is to know the signs. By understanding these signs, you’ll be able to jump ahead of any problems before it worsens. There are a variety of signs that you can look for, but here are three simple ones that you can look for!
Uneven Tire Wear
If properly aligned, the front and back two sets of tires should have matching tire wear. If you look at these two sets of tires and notice that the tire wear does not match, that may be a sign of misalignment. Make sure you get this taken care of quickly, or you'll find yourself needing a new tire much earlier than you may have expected!
Although an unbalanced tire could be the culprit, wheel vibrations can also be caused by misalignment. In regards to misalignment, vibrations occur when the wheels of the vehicle are working against each other (pulling in separate directions). If left unattended, the vibrations can worsen and make your vehicle a lot more difficult to control.
Pulling to One Side
Pulling is when your vehicle starts to naturally drift left or right instead of straight. If the pulling isn’t noticeable, you can test it by going to an empty parking lot and releasing the steering wheel. If the car starts to drift, you are dealing with misalignment. Visit us as soon as you notice this! If the issue isn’t fixed, the pulling can worsen and you’ll find yourself fighting the steering wheel in order to stay straight!
