Getting Familiar With Your Filters

How many filters does your vehicle have? If you guessed correctly or looked at this article, you would have thought four. When you ask that question to the everyday driver, the answer is always different. There are four filters in your vehicle. Now it is time for you to get more familiar with your filters. Some are easier to access and replace than others, which is why it is crucial to get your filters replaced by professionals. Professionals such as the well-trained technicians in our shop.

Oil Filter

Maintaining the constant flow of oil and removing particles that could cause damage to your engine are the main functions of the oil filter. If any dirt, water, oxidized oil, metal, or bugs get into the engine, it can cause excessive wear on the moving parts. Dirty oil is less effective than clean oil in removing heat from the engine. To ensure your oil is as clean as possible, it is important to change your oil filter every other oil change.

Fuel Filter

This part of your vehicle is the number one line of defense for your engine against the pollutants that are found in gasoline. Over time this filter will become overfilled with dirt, bugs, and metal which can lead to a reduced fuel level entering the engine. The less fuel entering the engine means your vehicle will suffer performance loss, reduced fuel economy, and misfires. Keep everything running smoothly by replacing your vehicle’s fuel filter.

Cabin Filter

Just as your vehicle breathes air into the engine, we breathe air into our lungs. The cabin air filter filters the air we breathe from the outside. Bugs, dirt, and rocks could get into the car and our lungs if we did not have a cabin air filter. Replace this filter if you smell funny smells, notice reduced airflow, or see water leaking from the vents.

Engine Filter

Ah, the engine air filter is just as important as all the other filters since this keeps dirt, bugs, and water out of the engine. If these contaminants get into the engine, it can cause the engine to wear down faster, diminish performance output, or stop working altogether. Take our advice and don’t skip on the engine filter replacement. The cost of an engine filter is significantly less than a new engine. Spend a little now, and save a lot later.
