Four Ideas for What Really Belongs in Your Car

A lot of stuff ends up in the typical car over the course of the week or even the month. You might find yourself dreading cleaning out your car even. But do you know what you really should have in your car? L&D Automotive has a list you can use to stock up your car.

Important Documentation

You might already know what sorts of documentation you need to keep in your car, but just in case, you should have at least these items in the car:

  • Insurance cards
  • Roadside assistance information, if applicable
  • Registration cards
  • Owner’s manual

Your driver’s license is probably always in your wallet anyway, but you might want to consider keeping a small notebook in the car as well.

A Small Toolkit

Even if you’re not mechanically inclined, it’s a good idea to keep some tools in your car. Adjustable wrenches, screwdrivers, and other simple tools can come in handy when you least suspect. It’s also a good idea to make sure that you have things like jumper cables or a jump pack, just in case.

A First Aid Kit

Something else that you should keep in your car is a first aid kit. There are plenty that you can grab right off the shelf that include things like bandages, antibiotic cream, and single-use packets of OTC medications. These are a great start, but you can build your own first aid kit with items you already have, too. There’s no wrong way to make sure that you’ve got at least some first aid items with you, just in case.

Emergency Items

In a true emergency, you’re going to need items like a flashlight and some extra batteries, maybe a charged power bank, and even some food and water to tide you over until help arrives. It’s also a good idea to consider a change of clothing and some blankets. These items don’t have to take up a lot of space in your car, and truthfully they shouldn’t. But they’re good to have if you do need them for any reason.

The other way to make sure that you don’t need to use any emergency items is to keep your car in the best condition possible. L&D Automotive in Lavon, TX can help with that! Give us a call today and we can set up an appointment to make sure that your car’s maintenance needs and repairs are handled quickly and accurately.
